Taming

Animal Lore is required alongside the Animal Taming skill to tame and command tamable followers. Animal Lore improves the effectiveness of healing followers using the Veterinary skill.

Animal Taming allows players to tame various creatures and command them as followers. Each tamable creature type has a minimum Animal Taming skill requirement in order to tame and control it, which also requires the player to have at least an equal amount of Animal Lore skill.

If a player manually releases a tamed creature (via saying "All Release" or "X release") that creature will instantly be released and will automatically be deleted in 1 hour, unless retamed.

A chill effect applied on a target provides bonuses that the source of the effect will receive against the target for 5 minutes. Chill effects from the player and their followers are combined together against a target (i.e. will stack and each can use it).

Tamed Creatures that players have placed For Sale can be purchased by players through the Creatures Bazaar system through Creature Broker NPCs. Creature Brokers can be found near Stablemasters in Towns.

Most tameable creatures have one or more follower abilities each of one of three types passive, innate and cooldown. These abilities range from healing to damage, special attacks to allowing the creature to carry items and more.

The Herding skill increases the damage dealt and damage resistance of player's tamed and summoned followers, provided the player has an 'active' Shepherd's Crook equipped or in their backpack.

Each tameable creature used to belong to a trait group, which determined which upgrades they could receive every other level. This system has since been replaced with stat increases per level and various new Follower Abilities.

Players can tame, purchase and earn many different mounts throughout the world. They can only be used in the Overworld (more specifics on that later) but not within Dungeons. This will make the world easier to transverse while also allowing the more dangerous places to be mount-free.

Pack Animals can be purchased from a Stablemaster NPC. Players can double-click a Pack Animal to open its backpack. Pack Animals that have been released by their Controller can be attacked by monsters.

Stablemasters are NPCs that players can speak with to store and retrieve their pets and mounts. They can be found in every city at a stable and many other locations. Claiming Followers from a Stablemaster does not have a gold cost.

The Taming Bestiary is an item which lets tamers earn experience to unlock various upgrades which apply to creatures of the various tamed classes. The Taming Bestiary is crafted by players using the Inscription skill and is Blessed.

The Veterinary skill allows players to heal, cure, and resurrect using veterinary supplies or bandages. Players may use vet supplies on followers and themselves but bandages are required to heal other players. This skill complements the Animal Taming and Animal Lore skills.
